Beautiful Blenheim! (2 day rest!)

Great to arrive in Blenheim to stay with Karla and her parents - and wee Freya and Jasper. Always great to catch up with good friends you haven't seen in a long time, sleep in a real bed (!) and not wear your hair in a helmet styled bun on the side of your head.

Brancott Estate - what a massive vineyard!
Nice spot for a bit of wine tasting!

The ride from Blenheim to Picton is an easy 28km. $68 for you and your bike to get the ferry to Welllington. Great to relax in the sun for a couple of hours, eat my egg sandwiches, and people watch!

Looking out to the Sounds from the Picton waterfront.

Top Tip: Arrive into Wellington on your bike on a Sunday evening. There's no traffic and you can cruise around the waterfront and streets with ease! Off to find cousin's place in Hataitai - yes, up another hill!

Meandering from Nelson to Blenheim...

Cable Bay is a beautiful place. It is called Cable Bay because this is where the first cable was brought across in 1876 to connect us with Australia and the UK. It took 11 days to drag it across.

I spent the afternoon jumping off rocks into the Pelorus River, it had quite a good current which would take you down a wee way where you could get out, and then do it all over again!

Entering Havelock...NZ's green mussel capital apparently!

Good morning Blenheim!
